Aldeburgh Young Musicians with London Sinfonietta

A sharing of musical creativity at the culmination of Aldeburgh Young Musicians’ (AYM) half-term project week exploring the power of song for social change.

London Sinfonietta takes our AYMs under their wing for a week-long project exploring and composing their own protest songs. Alongside a guest composer they’ll be drawing inspiration from Hans Werner Henze’s work “Voices”, which will be performed in the 2026 Aldeburgh Festival.

AYM offers creative and collaborative musical training for promising young musicians in Suffolk. We are a Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) that explores multiple disciplines and genres, ranging from Folk and Early Music to Japanese Taiko and the Blues, with a focus on key areas such as improvisation and creative response. We offer a tailored experience, building on each of our members individual needs and interests. This customisable and progressive approach means we’re able to nurture our students’ talents, producing resilient, adaptable and engaged musicians.

The London Sinfonietta is one of the world’s leading contemporary music ensembles. Formed in 1968, their commitment to making new music has seen them commission over 470 works and premiere many hundreds more. A Resident Orchestra at the Southbank Centre and Artistic Associate at Kings Place, with a busy touring schedule across the UK and abroad, the London Sinfonietta’s principal players are some of the finest musicians in the world.
