Halesworth ASH: Power Station

Halesworth ASH is delighted to present “Power Station” another in our strand of engaging and thought-provoking Green Films. Screening at The Cut on the evening of Friday 24th April, this is a compelling documentary by activist film-makers Dan Edelstyn and Hilary Powell, charting their mission – hatched during lockdown – to bring solar panels to the roofs of the houses in their street and, in their words, to “turn every house into a power station”. Along the way, they also fundraise to get solar panels on the roof of the local junior school (helped by an ambitious campaign for a Number One in the Christmas music charts) and enjoy a visit from King Charles!

The film has enjoyed a nationwide series of screenings, encouraging discussion about community engagement, solar panels on domestic roofs (as well as insulation and batteries) and community-owned energy projects from the Scottish Highlands to Penzance – and now we are delighted to share the film in Halesworth and our neighbours Bungay and Beccles. We’re delighted that our Energy Champion, William Poulsen is joining us for the screening and will be sharing news of initiatives already underway in the town and planning some energy-related events around the screening, so watch this space.
“Power Station’ is already a compelling documentation of Dan Edelstyn’s and Hilary Powell’s mission to transform their street into a green new hub of clean energy, but becomes more interesting still as it blossoms into a story of community solidarity and an unwavering fight for a better tomorrow. Infectious in its optimism, showing that if we hope to start saving our planet, we should start with where we live.”
