Opera gets dismantled, reassembled, and reimagined through sound, screen, and speaker in this bold experiment in theatrical technology.
Following a residency at Britten Pears Arts, artists Sam Belinfante and Neil Luck present a work-in-progress that dives into the hidden machinery of opera. They restage and rearrange its critical moments using sound, video, lighting, and complex cueing systems. Working across disciplines and unconventional spaces, they transform off-stage choruses, dramatic reveals, and musical interactions into immersive audio-visual maquettes. These are performed not by people, but by projectors, speakers, and screens.
This sharing invites audiences into a choreography of technology where operatic history meets experimental performance. Expect disembodied voices, spatialised sound, and theatrical illusions rendered through innovative staging and telematic techniques. Everything unfolds in real time.
