Clue-don’t

Dear theatre-goer,

As you can see by the front of this flyer, The Seagull Amateurs will be performing ‘Clue-don’t’ on the 13th and 14thof November this year.  Clue-don’t has been written by one of our members, Dr. Jamie Bernthal, who is a leading expert on all things ‘Agatha Christie.’  He has written/edited numerous books on the subject of Agatha and is currently a visiting Fellow in Creative Writing at Suffolk University. He is also one of the writers involved in the BBC’s Maestro Agatha Christie crime writing course. Most recently he has been nominated for a crime writing award for a short story he has written based in Gt. Yarmouth.

Clue-don’t stays true to Christie’s love of murder mystery and takes place at Polycarp Hall.  There we meet a variety of characters, most notably Jessica Brick, who is a Miss Marple wannabe, and Achilles Pierrot – yes, you’ve guessed it – a Hercule Poirot wannabe. It doesn’t take long to realise that both Jessica and Achilles are… well, let’s just say rather inept at crime solving! This sets the tone for a play full of gentle humour, secret passageways and a ‘one-of-a-kind’ housekeeper. The play is included in Jamie’s book entitled ‘Spotlight on Jessica Brick’, which is just one in a series of books about the amateur sleuth.

This will be the first time Clue-don’t has ever been staged, so I suppose we could call it a world premiere!  So please come and support us as we endeavour to introduce Jessica and Achilles to a live audience!
