Open Season: John Biddulph – The Sonic Microscope
Experience recordings of sounds at the threshold of perception at this work-in-progress showing. An invitation to close, sustained listening with composer and electro-acoustic performer John Biddulph.
Working with voice, bass clarinet, modular electronics, contact microphones, and fragile or found sound sources, the project brings to the foreground otherwise minute sonic events – breath noise, key clicks, unstable feedback, faint electrical currents, and barely audible resonances; putting a sonic microscope to sounds at the edge of perception.
The performance comes as part of an immersive body of work that treats sound as material to be examined, magnified, and gently unsettled, focusing on timbre, texture, micro-movement, and near-silence.
