Stride For The Stage – Peddars Way Challenge
Stride For The Stage – Peddars Way Challenge
Join Craig Jarvis and Jonny Gleeson on the final leg of their 36-hour Peddars Way challenge as they raise money for Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds Youth Theatre – creating transformative opportunities for young people in your local community.
On Saturday 18th of July, Craig and Jonny will be completing the final leg of their challenge walking the Peddars Way National Trail from Holme-Next-The-Sea to Knettishall Heath, Thetford in just 36-hours – a trail that would normally be taken over the course of 4-5 days. Join them on the final leg of their challenge from Knettishall Heath to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds and raise vital funds that will give young people in your community access to a new creative programme, helping to shape their future and connect with arts forms they may not have had access to before.
Walking from Knettishall Heath to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is approximately 16 miles and takes around five and a half hours – in itself a challenge! For a shorter version of this leg, you can join us at Culford School at 2pm and walk with us to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds for a two-hour walk and support Craig and Jonny on their final push!
This exciting initiative will open the door to creative opportunities for children who may never otherwise have had access to theatre, giving them the chance to discover their voice, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of the arts. Youth theatre is about far more than performance. It helps young people develop essential life skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, creativity, resilience, and self-discipline. Through working together, learning new skills, and performing in front of others, children gain confidence, improve their self-esteem, and learn how to express themselves effectively. For many young people, joining a youth theatre can be a life-changing experience, providing a safe and supportive environment where they can make friends, explore their potential, and develop skills that will benefit them throughout their education, future careers, and everyday lives.
Every mile walked, every blister earned, will help to fund something truly special: a new Youth Theatre at Howard Community Academy Primary School in Bury St Edmunds and create bursary places for Theatre Royal’s established Youth Theatres.
- For every £10 raised, one child can enjoy the benefits of youth theatre at their school.
- £225 funds one child’s place at youth theatre for an entire year.
Walk with us and help to bring confidence and self-esteem to young people in Bury St Edmunds.
