The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde26 07 JHA Aldeburgh Classic Theatre
Southwold Arts Centre, St Edmunds Hall

Wednesday 29th July to Saturday 1st August
and Wednesday 5th to Saturday 8th August 2026

Described by the author as, “A Trivial Comedy for Serious People”, Wilde’s genre-crossing masterpiece of Romcom meets Satire has everything. Starting with lightest-touch, highbrow wit, it moves through thwarted romance to true love, by way of mistaken-identity impostor-farce.
Chosen as ACT’s tribute production to the life and work of our late patron, Jill Freud, it embodies her wise advice, “comedies are twice as funny when they have a big heart”.

Running time approximately 2hrs with interval.
Tickets £18 or £24 depending on location.
Evenings Wednesday to Saturday 7:30pm and Matinees 4pm on Thursdays and Saturdays.
(For further information, disabled access, or group bookings please call 01728 343344.)
We look forward to welcoming you.
Please allow sufficient time to arrive and park, there may be road closures and diversions.
