Weird and Wonderful Wood is a unique and magical annual event in the beautiful grounds of Haughley Park, near Stowmarket. On the 9th & 10th of May visitors young and old can see how we have used wood as a natural resource to inspire and entertain people of all ages.
This celebration of all things wood, from fine furniture, sculpture, carving and woodturning to chainsaw carving, archery and tree climbing, attracts craftspeople and audiences from all over the country, and beyond.
There will be over 150 stalls selling beautiful handmade wood and other natural material crafts, demonstrations of heritage crafts and local food & drink. Visitors can join in with free workshops, enjoy live music, see international street theatre and will find a surprise around every corner!
Children can learn to drum, build with clay, learn to hula hoop, do a willow workshop, make a mini garden, try archery, use a spoke shave, build with scrap wood, make a puppet, hear a story, watch a show, whittle a spoon, climb a tree with Monkey Do, play giant games, meet a fairy, see a mechanical dragon, make friends with a cavewoman, and more!
Visitors can enjoy live music on our acoustic stage and at Buskers Corner, see shows from the best street theatre, watch out for wandering performers and stumble upon spontaneous happenings!
This is a truly magical, affordable day out for all the family. While you are at the event all of our activities are free so everyone can join in.
