Bury Friendly Orchestra: 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert

Bury Friendly Orchestra: 20th Anniversary Celebration Concert
Bury Friendly Orchestra is delighted to return to The Apex and excited to collaborate again with the fantastic young pianist Archie Bonham.
The programme will feature two masterpieces of the romantic repertoire; Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto no 2 and Dvořák’s Symphony No 9 From the New World; both packed full of emotion, nostalgia and beauty.
The concert will open with the World Premiere of a new fanfare by David Sims, composed especially to celebrate the BFO’s 20th Anniversary.
The Rachmaninoff is an emotional rollercoaster, from the thundering opening chords to the heartbreaking slow movement – a piece that reached no 1 in the Classic FM Hall of Fame 2025.
Dvořák’s New World Symphony features many well known tunes, particularly in the beautiful and haunting 2nd movement. The symphony also combines Dvořák’s influences from his native Bohemia with Native American and African – American spirituals. At almost 40 minutes in length it is a glorious masterpiece for all to enjoy.
