Aldeburgh Comedy Club presents A Showcase Night with Matt Price

Matt Price is a storytelling stand-up comic from Cornwall who’s been punched by a gangster, hugged by a psychic, and lived to make jokes about it. With charm, self-deprecation, and wild true tales, he’s like your funniest mate—if your mate had a weirder life and better timing.
A festival favourite and seasoned international performer, he’s headlined at Edinburgh, toured Australia, Asia and Europe, and supported big names like Russell Kane—delivering laughter with generosity, charm and storytelling flair.He headlines a show featuring local talent taking first steps on the stand-up comedy ladder. The support acts are mini-sets from the participants on compere Louie Green’s Stand-Up course.

Opening the show is Ben van der Velde, a globe-trotting gag-smith whose improv-powered whirlwind once founded the “Church of the Holy Kazoo,” re‑married people via voodoo, and walked the entire Tube for charity. With razor‑sharp spontaneity, audience hijinks, and contagious laughs (scientifically verified), he’s the unpredictable comic you didn’t know you needed.
