Britten: Canticles

Britten’s haunting Canticles performed by a superb roster of singers and instrumentalists – five miniature works that invite the listener into a diverse and richly emotional world.

Written for Britten’s partner, Peter Pears, these works are intimate and spiritually charged, and reflect Britten’s interests in poetry, religion and the human condition, together charting his musical evolution over an almost thirty-year period.
