Open Session: Michelle Hromin
Clarinet, field recordings and pedals combine in this work-in-progress showing from the multidisciplinary artist Michelle Hromin, inspired by the atmospheric sounds of a sea organ.
Michelle will introduce and play excerpts from this forthcoming large-scale composition, the starting point for which is the haunting and distinctive sound of a sea organ in Croatia. Recordings of the sounds produced by the organ are combined with archive materials from her village and live clarinet, in this work which emulates the feeling of sitting by the ocean, listening to the organ, evoking wistful memories of home and feelings of longing.
