Friday Lunchtime Concert:

Ewan Millar

An enticing programme of works for solo oboe, including Britten’s extraordinarily vivid Six Metamorphoses plus music by J.S. Bach and his son, the often-radical C.P.E. Bach.

Alongside these much loved cornerstones of the oboe repertoire, Ewan Millar plays music by the revered contemporary composer Thea Musgrave, including Niobe, where the soloist is accompanied by a haunting and evocative pre-recorded soundtrack. The concert closes with the toe-tapping Blues for DD – a rip-roaring showcase for this afternoon’s soloist.
