Friday Lunchtime Concert: AERA Ensemble

Fun-loving music from Beethoven, romantically expressive music by Bruch and Stravinsky’s cautionary tale, in the hands of the dynamic AERA Ensemble.

Known for their sense of adventure, the ensemble bring three sharply contrasted works together in this programme. Beethoven’s Clarinet Trio is the composer at his most relaxed – Beethoven was just 26 when he composed it, and it shows through in its energy and warmth. Bruch’s eight miniatures are however the expression of a composer in his maturity – rich and mellow. Stravinsky’s pungent sound-world closes the concert, his original score to The Soldier’s Tale distilled down to five energetic movements in this concert suite.
