Friday Lunchtime Concert: Samrat Majumder

Profoundly expressive, Bach’s beautiful Lute Suite No.1 is at the heart of this concert, played alongside traditional Scottish music and poignant works by John Dowland.

Samrat Majumder is a Scottish-Indian classical guitarist and Young Concert Artists Trust (YCAT) musician, recently named as one of Classic FM’s “Rising Stars” for 2026, who enjoys an international career, with highlights this season including his debut at London’s Wigmore Hall.

Alongside music by Dowland and Bach, this concert will also feature a short new composition by Arthur Keegan, whose music often draws inspiration from poetry and literature or which responds to existing music.
