The Rogues Shanty Chorus proudly returns to the Seagull Theatre, after fifteen consecutive sell-out performances, with ‘Hold Fast’
The Rogues Shanty Chorus keep alive the unique coastal, cultural and musical heritage of Lowestoft, bringing the folk music of the town’s fishing communities to existing and new audiences.
In this show, the group take hold of what bound sailors together – the rituals, the rhythms, and the resilience required for life at sea. From discipline of “hold fast” in a storm to the endurance of months adrift, they uncover the customs, camaraderie and hard-won wisdom that kept crews together when the sea threatened to pull them apart.
The group promise to bring their usual inimitable mix of fun and rowdy sea shanties and evocative storytelling performed through equal parts authentic traditional pub singaround and unique charming humour – singing along will be encouraged.
