Friday Lunchtime Concert:

London Chamber Soloist

A musical stroll through sun-dappled woods, a melancholic rarity by Debussy and atmospheric Argentinian tango – all in an afternoon’s work for the London Chamber Soloists. An intriguing programme offering a chance to hear music that intrigues and entertains. Mel Bonis’ vivid and evocative Forest Scenes depicts the sounds and atmosphere of a woodland, while Debussy’s Sonate is a brilliant example of his musical pointillism, with his use of musical colour being reminiscent of earlier orchestral works such as La mer. One of Piazzolla’s most popular Tangos, Oblivion, closes the concert; dark-hued, mysterious and sultry, a sense of melancholy pervading throughout.
