Where Rock ‘n’ Roll Was Born – the Official Sun Records Concert Show Sam Phillips opened his Memphis Recording Service studio on January 3, 1950 at 706 Union Avenue in Memphis and in March 1951 where Phillips produced “Rocket 88” by an outfit he named himself. They were Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats (who were actually Ike Turner and his Kings of Rhythm).
The success of “Rocket 88” helped Sam Phillips fund the creation of Sun Records in February 1952. The decades that followed showed those three rooms at 706 Union Avenue, Memphis to be Where Rock ’n’ Roll Was Born!
2027 sees the show revisiting the blessed recording studio and the legendary record label that brought you Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Rufus Thomas and scores more rockin’ pioneers, as they once again come to life live on stage … with some ‘brand new’ classic songs from the amazing catalogue from Sun Records.

All seating to the rear of this row permits standing/dancing (in both seated areas and the aisles), in most circumstances, for live music shows.

We ask audience members to be kind and considerate to those around them at all times, and to follow the instructions of our ushers and security staff. Anyone who refuses to do as we ask, or is rude or obviously intoxicated, will be asked to leave the theatre.
