Talk – Blake Morrison: On Memoir
On Memoir

As the recent furore over Raynor Winn’s The Salt Path has shown, memoir is the most fraught and contentious of genres, one that raises huge issues about honesty, candour, consent and the tension between those who write and those who are written about. In this talk Blake Morrison will consider the demands and rewards of the form, while offering guidance to those write memoir and those who read it.

Blake Morrison is a poet, novelist, dramatist and librettist best known for his three memoirs And When Did You Last See Your Father, Things My Mother Never Told Me and Two Sisters. Earlier this year he published On Memoir: An A-Z of Life Writing, described as ‘a freewheeling exploration of narrative non-fiction, its challenges, ethics and charms, and its power to move and change us. From AI to Ethics to Politics to Sex, there is something for every reader and writer in this modern classic.’

Ticket includes a free hot drink.
This talk will finish at approximately 12pm.
